A short angled bob is a women’s short haircut that’s cut shorter at the back and is longer towards the front. Practical yet extra fashionable and versatile – this combo makes this hot cut the most sought-after bob style since the beginning of time!

You’ve surely seen photos of Hollywood fashion icons Regina King, Gabrielle Union, Emily Ratajkwoski, and Jourdan Dunn rocking their voguish short hair in an angled cut rounding up the internet. Their hairstylists made sure to consider their face detail and hair type in creating their complimentary haircuts.

Just like how Orlando-based hair specialist Gerilyn Ghaisarzadeh matches her clients’ faces and personalities with a fitting hairstyle and even with vibrant colors – you’ll find a long list of ways how to style an angled bob-cut. Style with beach waves for a carefree, boho vibe, or iron it straight and sleek to exquisitely define that angle – you won’t run out of looks to try for your tresses.

Its versatility isn’t the only amazing thing about angled bobs. Easy maintenance for short cuts also gives it extra fashion points!

#1: For Curly Hair

This haircut is a short-medium angled bob with tight curls. My favorite thing about this haircut is how it shows off her natural curls. It also shows that even curly girls can have a beautiful short, curly angled bob.

If you want to work with your natural curls, discuss what products you should use. Try Amika’s Plus Size to help hold the curl’s shape and softness without that crunch normal mousses have.

#2: Short and Angled Bob with Highlights

A short haircut with highlights would look perfect on you whether you have fine or thick hair. Such a haircut is very versatile! The short back in this haircut style makes it simple to manage. The highlights are placed strategically for a look full of depth and dimension. The ideal styling product for this haircut would be a high-quality smoothing cream to keep your hair shiny and sleek.

#3: A-Line Asymmetrical Bob

An a-line asymmetrical bob always gives a powerful visual impact with its strong shape. In my experience, this cut is always a fan favorite. This bob cut allows you to enjoy your hair’s fullness while remaining short and easy to manage. You’ll want this bob haircut with shorter layers at the crown. These layers should gradually become longer as they approach your face. The longer layers around your face create a beautiful drape. This style gives the bob haircut a cool look.

#4: Soft Purple Angled Bob

Try adding a soft purple tint to an angled bob haircut. The shape of this haircut provides a sharp edge that easily falls into place. A purple hue adds depth and lightness to the overall dark color. I suggest using color-enhancing shampoo to maintain the bold color.

#5: Textured and Bouncy

It’s a blunt bob with shattered ends. I love this look because it is effortless yet so chic! This is great for wavy or straighter hair; you can even turn it into a long angled bob. This haircut needs more maintenance by cutting every two to three months.

Vibrant Red Tousled Short Angled Bob

#6: Vibrant Red Tousled Angled Bob

Try a red tousled angled bob for a playful spin on a classic style. One of the best ways to take a style from classic to elevated is to add a pop of color or loose curls. Having lighter pieces in your hair before adding the red gives you more dimension in your red color. Don’t forget to ask your stylist to make you a depositing conditioner to keep your color vibrant. Depositing conditioner is mixed with a direct dye. Red, in this case, you’ll use this once a week.

#7: Dark Brown Angled Inverted Bob

Studies show that “the big chop” is one of the most liberating haircuts! If you’re going to cut your hair short, you should try a dark brown angled inverted bob. This super slimming crop looks good on nearly anyone looking for a short cut.

#8: Slightly Waved Blonde Bob

This slightly waved blonde bob brings a classic cut into the modern world. Use a large barrel curling iron or flat iron if you can to create a soft bend. Ask your stylist for helpful tips to style your specific hair type.

#9: Beautiful Angled Stacked Bob

Try a beautiful stacked bob if you want a fun new cut. This classic cut is flattering for most hair textures. Ask your stylist for a steeper angle if you want something extra edgy.

#10: Glossy Angled Short Bob

An angled short bob is a true classic. The bluntness and the slight angle of the cut give off businesswoman sophistication vibes. To add shine, use a glossing spray throughout the hair when about 85% dry. Finish off with a straightener if you have thick, unruly hair.

#11: With Bangs

Are you the sweetest darling in your group? Match your personality with a cute short angled bob with bangs. This is the right hairstyle for ladies with sleek and straight hair on a jet black hair color.

#12: With Side Swept Bangs

Want a sassy hairstyle for your sassy attitude? Look no further. It’s one of the funkiest short angled bob haircuts you’ll see, which is intensified with more texture and volume on tresses with side-swept bangs. The rich, blonde balayage is enough to convince you to wear this one now.

#13: Sleek Sharp Bob For Fine Hair

Give your hair a glass-looking effect by getting an easy short angled bob cut, styled straight or with loose and thin waves. With ash-blonde highlights, this is the cutest hairstyle you can get for fine hair.

#14: The Back View

The perfect short angled bob hairstyle does not look great on the front but also has to be polished on the back view. This french haircut on natural balayaged brown and blonde hair is an artwork by the stylist Ryan Amacker. He proves that a first-rate haircut and style start “with a thorough consultation to determine what is best for your lifestyle and face shape.”

#15: For Thick Hair

Your charisma shines the best if partnered with this stunning hairstyle for thick hair. The textured, chin-length angled bob cut is the ultimate one that goes along with your boldness. Make it extra sleek with the soft grey balayage.

This long front, short back angled bob cut is favorable to most ladies with straight dark brunette hair. With a subtle undercut, this short haircut will compliment your innocent and beautiful queen-like face. For versatility, an angled lob is a nice choice!

This is the perfect short angled bob haircut for a round face. You’ll love looking at yourself in the mirror wearing this beach-waved side part hair on a light ginger color.

#18: For Black Hair

This is a shorter, angled bob with texture, and it’s very sassy. It gives you attitude and confidence. Not many people can pull this look off. Something I like about it is that it calls attention when you walk on the street. It shows off the ability of the hairstylist and their technique. I’ve gotten a lot of business off of this haircut and style. What inspired me for this color look is fall and winter. The dark tones, midnight blues, and purple haze remind me of this season.

It all depends on their face shape. If you have a shorter neck, accentuate it by showing off the back of the neck and stack it up in the back. If you have a long neck, do more of an A-line bob.

What I find fascinating about these haircuts is that it depends on the client’s personality, and everything is customized and geared toward what best suits them. Maintenance-wise, you look at about 8-9 weeks for the touch-up of the haircut.

At-home maintenance is simple, and you often have to paddle brush it dry and flat iron it. When one of my clients gets a new look like this, part of the service teaches them how to style it at home.

#19: Very Short Bob Cut with Bangs

This very short angled bob with bangs is timeless, chic, and easy to style.

You should blow-dry with a paddle brush to wear it smoothly and to combat the ends that may flip the wrong way. You can also air dry or use a diffuser to bring out the natural texture. Depending on the length, this angled haircut can be worn with any facial shape. It’s definitely for someone with a hectic lifestyle who wants a low-maintenance cut but still looks stylish.

#20: Layered Short Angled Bob

I love this layered and angled bob; it is sleek and versatile. This is one of my favorite cuts. It has the edginess that you can smoothly wear it to work yet still give it some beach waves and have some fun.

The color is very dimensional, although it gives the appearance of having a neutral brown base unless you are in the natural light. There’s a mixture of four browns, from mocha to auburn. Then we have her crown and glory section, as I call it, where it is heavily highlighted with super fine pieces and balayaged throughout to still give the gentle appearance of her natural base color as it grows out. So, you have the best of both worlds.

Know that you can have fun with it! It does require some work, so be ready to style it. Whether it may be a round brush blowout, flat iron, or a wand, use products that help with styling, protect from heat, and provide a little hold.

A good leave-in conditioner prep spray to help return the hair to its normal pH, a styling mousse, a  blow-out balm, a shine/smoothing serum, and a heat protectant are essential. Short angled bob cuts like this one have so many different styled ways – don’t forget to be sassy!

Short Stacked Angled Bob Cut
Instagram @78mizzi

#21: Stacked Short Angled Bob

This bob is a posh, hi-end style — a hairstyle where you can wear comfy clothes to dressy clothes and still look stylish and trendy. I wanted to choose a color that expressed something deep and sophisticated. I also wanted to form this bob so that when she gets ready with a busy life, it just falls into place, creating an easy way of going on the go and still looking classy.

You need to have the proper bone structure to have a high-elevated bob. To achieve this striking look, it would be best to have thick to coarse hair. It will make the bob look more defined.

I always like to use a very light anti-frizz creme to smooth any fly. It tends to give the elevated bob a sleeker look, creating sophistication for people who have busy lives and don’t have time to spend on their hair daily.

#22: Angled Bob with Bangs and Messy Layers

This short angled bob hair cut is fun and flirty. Her natural texture works with this cut. This type of easy-toothed look is really in right now. It’s for women who want to look put together and stylish yet utilize little time in the morning.

This cut is paired with an edgy asymmetrical fringe to create a little more of a fun look. The nape line is soft and textured to give more of a feminine feel.

She has a small amount of waves in her hair, but with the right texturizing and product usage, the wave bounces up, creating a tousled beach wave look. The way I styled it was easy. While wet, I put some Catwalk Sea Salt Spray by TIGI. The back was blow-dried naturally. In the front, I blow-dried everything up, creating volume while scrunching it with my hand intermittently. Then, once dry, I sprayed the sea salt back on and scrunched it in. This took care of any frizz.

To give it even more of an edgy feel, you could use a texturizing paste to piece out the look. After styling, it would be a fun look to add some accessories, too. This easy, on-the-go, low-maintenance style can be styled utilizing only one product.

This cut is for all ages. If you’re worried about the face shape, don’t be. If you feel like you have a round face, add more volume, keep more length in the front, and the bangs longer. This cut honestly could be personalized to anyone’s face shape.

Short angled bob for thin hair

#23: For Thin Hair

This look, to me, is the perfect balance of glamorous and chic. This cut is one of my favorite haircuts for women with thin hair. My favorite thing ab

Try out this cut; it is how versatile it is. You can wear it sleek or add soft waves for a more playful look.

If my client is considering this haircut, I ask these questions. What is your everyday routine? How much time do you want to spend on your hair daily? What styling products and tools do you have at home?

This cut is super easy to style, but I always tell my client that they will have to blow dry their hair with a round brush to achieve the sleek look pictured here, then finish with a straightener to smooth out the sides to give it that sharp look.

The perfect face shape for this cut is round since it will elongate your face, but I do love this cut on most face shapes since you can customize how long and angled the front will suit each face shape.

I rate this hair cut medium for maintenance since you will need it trimmed every 5-8 weeks to keep the shape.

Mostly, all hair types can pull this off. It all depends on the perfect styling products to make styling easier. My absolute favorite products are from Unite Hair. For this look, I used a product called Unite Lazer Straight and Unite Boosta Volumizing Spray.

short angled blonde balayage bob

#24: Blonde Balayage

This is a crisp, classic shape with subtle tousled movement and golden tones – I describe this look as refined softness. What I love about this look is that the overall shape is visually appealing. The back is short and stacked while maintaining the length around the face for a soft, feminine, versatile look. I added golden highlights to her warm caramel base to create beautiful depth and dimension for a stunning style.

This ageless style has so many variations that can be customized to each client’s specific needs and desires. Being honest and real with your stylist about how much time you are willing to invest in styling will help him/her recommend appropriate products for your hair and provide styling tips.

This timeless style can be refined and detailed in many ways to make it suitable for all hair textures and densities. It is amazing for an on-the-go girl, professionals, young and mature women!!!

short angled bob with undercut

#25: Choppy with an Undercut

This is a choppy, angled short bob with a peekaboo shaved undercut, even if it is not visible in the pic. I love its versatility: elegant yet edgy and modern. She’s rocking her natural color, embracing her amazing grey hair that blends well with the natural smokey blonde.

I would ask if she’s active and how much longer she’d need to preserve to make the haircut more suitable for her lifestyle. If she prefers to put her hair up in a ponytail, we may need to rethink the length and keep it slightly longer. If not, we can go even shorter.

Short hair only needs a little upkeep besides using the right products. I recommend a good product to be used before drying it – like a mousse or a texturing lotion – and a styling wax/paste to give it extra texture and fun. I believe “less is more.” It takes a couple of weeks to get used to short hair, but trust me when I say it’s addictive.

#26: Wavy and Short

My client describes this look the best as a cool bob. We wanted something that, when styled and curled, is fun and sassy, but also, when blown out straight, it’s sleek and still has a great shape.

The versatility of this look is my favorite part of it. For styling, I used Color Wow’s Carb Infused Dream Cocktail for added volume, curled in alternating directions with my Croc Hybrid Iron, and then sprayed Cult-Favorite Hairspray by Color Wow.

Usually, when clients consider a shorter look, I remind them that short hair is sometimes more work than long hair. Most times, in addition to analyzing face shape, the actual length is determined by if they want to put it up.

Not all clients want it so short that ponytails can be done, so daily styling usually needs to be done. That’s when I recommend a product according to their hair type. Whether that be something for smoothing frizzy hair or pumping up the volume, that depends on each client, but no matter what, every client needs something with a heat protectant.

I always talk to my clients about how to apply products and then how to style because I want them to feel comfortable and confident, re-creating their looks at home.

Jaw-length angled bob
Instagram @shmoakin_hair

#27: Jaw-Length Bob

This look is a classic and will never go out of style. It’s good if you still want length around your face but still have some fullness without being too short. Be prepared to style it every day. It’s not a wash-and-go kind of deal. A good blowdry will do wonders with this style, depending on your texture.

#28: Choppy Blonde with an Undercut

This cut is timeless and low maintenance for the most part. We shaved her underneath to create a little of an undercut because her hairline has quite a few cowlicks. It was fun to help with that problem and look super cute, even if she wanted to tie it back a bit.

My favorite part about it is that it’s supposed to look carefree and effortless, so when she styles it in the morning, she doesn’t have to think about it again! We went with cooler tones for her highlights, which goes well with her skin tone.

This style works great with hair on the thinner side. It looks at more body. It’s great for any lifestyle as this client is in the active military, living on base with two small kids.

Straight bobs with this hair type are simple to style and always look cute. A few passes with the curling iron, and she’s good to go!
